Love Song of The End of The World
The uniqueness of our times must be seen in the recognition that the past
hundred years of human activity have delivered humanity to the brink of
destruction. From this perspective a sense of urgency is bequeathed to the act
of writing. An urgency the consequence of which renders writing closer to
life. To write is to oppose destruction. To write is to reconsider everything about
life with attention, intensity, care for truth, sweeping desire, and compassion.
The writer fights and opposes the ultimate destruction by the impetuosity
of his willingness to proceed as though his decision to write is a call to arms
and a celebration of the endangered and often dangerous love of life.
